Transformational Projects
Business transformation revolves around finding new ways for your organization to stay on top. Technology is constantly evolving and today’s organizations need to continue to see the trend, pre-empt disruption and be increasingly efficient in the work they do. Business transformations allow organizations to be aligned with leading practices and industry specific expertise and through process optimization, transformations can unlock profitability, productivity and reduce costs. So transformations should not be seen as an option, but rather as an opportunity for businesses to adapt, innovate and improve.
A snapshot of some of the transformational projects executed, ranging from prior experience and at Georgetown Consulting.
Consumer Products Company
The client, a consumer products company, was experiencing increasing hardships in retrieving the level of reporting they desired to successfully plan for their operations. The project team assisted in redesigning several business processes based on leading practices including management reporting, budgeting and also worked with key stakeholders for a departmental organization redesign as a result of the growing needs of the organization. In addition to redesigning the budgeting process, we also assisted in training individuals across the departments impacted by the redesigned processes. Our efforts resulted in faster access to the required reports as well as a more precise budget.
Financial Services Company
The client, a large financial institution required a team to assist them in revamping their cumbersome and inconsistent business case development and approval process and templates. The consulting support provided resulted in the redesign of the new business case process to produce time and cost savings. We co-led the implementation across four lines of businesses, and also assessed and recommended new enablers, e.g., tools and technology enabled solutions to increase efficiency along the process. This resulted in a more streamlined process with several approval levels based on budget and project ownership.
Consumer Products Company
The client, a consumer products company, was experiencing several issues with their ERP system which lacked the capabilities and computing speeds to provide the kinds of services / outputs the organization required. We captured and prioritized business requirements across 7 major functions including Finance, Procurement, Production, Distribution and others through several workshops and also conducted a gap assessment to determine the options for a new ERP system to meet the company’s future state vision. This then provided the organization the tools they needed to conduct a vendor analysis and subsequently implement a new ERP system.
Public Sector Organization
The client, a public sector organization had several outdated financial management policies which were not aligned with their capabilities at the time. The project team was hired to assist them in crafting new financial management policies for several processes including budgeting and forecasting and procurement which were required to achieve the future state vision of the organization. The result was that the new policies were now aligned with the current system and policies which could be leveraged for training purposes.
Higher Educational Institution
The client, a higher education institution experienced several issues including: a legacy system requiring interfaces and reliance on key individuals, onerous committee structure that was lacking accountability and a lack of project and change management focus for implementing technology. The project team assessed the strategic alignment of the ERP system with the institution’s long-term goals and advised on its operational and financial readiness to successfully implement and operate the system at required service levels. This resulted in a fully integrated and vendor supported enterprise solution enabling workflow and process optimization as well as an institutional approach to decision making with stakeholders’ input and representation.
Technology Start-Up Company
The client, a technology start-up required assistance in determining the best approach to get their brand and product to market. We assisted them in creating a go-to-market strategy that outlined the value proposition to be delivered to clients and the approach to doing so. This led them to adopt the proposed strategies which were implemented.
